In the spring of 2002, two women faced breast cancer alone until they met while receiving chemotherapy one day.  With this new friendship came the promise to get together for lunch once they had completed their treatments.  When they finally met for lunch the two had grown to six.

At the time, these ladies had no idea that this would be the start of a breast cancer survivor group that would meet monthly, or that new friendships would offer shared support, encouragement and laughter.  As the months passed, this group became known as the Sisterhood of Survivors (S.O.S.).  We have members who faced breast cancer in the 70's and they bring to the group hope and knowledge.  We also have members that have just recently been diagnosed and are facing treatment challenges.  Our members attend based upon their needs.  Some in the early stages of treatment for encouragement and support while others attend in all stages of recovery to offer continued support to new members.

In March of 2007 S.O.S was featured in Non-Profit News of the Fresno Magazine click here to read the article.

Currently our newsletter goes out to over 750  survivors, supporters and professionals quarterly.
